Farmlands joins forces with Farmstrong
Module Overview
Farmlands has joined forces with Farmstrong for Tag Your Charity, the co-op’s annual Christmas fundraiser.
Each year Farmlands chooses a national partner and local charities for customers to give to when they shop in-store and this year Farmstrong was chosen as its national partner.
Farmlands kicked off the giving by donating $50,000 to the charity fundraiser, which runs from 1 November until 31 December.
When customers shop at Farmlands, they can show their support for Farmstrong and/or each store’s chosen local charity by making a donation. They can also hang a tag on the purpose-bult Christmas tree.
Last year, the fundraising drive raised over $129,000 for national partner I Am Hope and local charities. The goal this year is to top that amount.
Extending support to local communities
Farmlands CEO Tanya Houghton says partnering with Farmstrong allows Farmlands to extend more support to rural communities in a way that really makes a difference.
“We want to help Farmstrong achieve its goals to reach more groups working in agriculture and provide more valuable resources to help rural people maintain their wellbeing,” Tanya says.
Tanya is keenly aware of the need to look after mental wellbeing after visiting rural regions that were devastated by Cyclone Gabrielle in February.
“I saw first-hand the toll that the cyclone and its aftermath had on our farmers and growers. We were able to provide some practical support through our Post Your Support fundraising campaign. We also want to do as much as we can to help develop the skills and resilience needed to cope into the future,” Tanya says.
Farmstrong spokesperson Gerard Vaughan says he’s extremely pleased Farmstrong was chosen as Farmlands’ 2023 national partner.
“Farmlands is very focused on mental health and wellbeing across the communities it’s part of. The donations of $75,000 to two rural support trusts after the cyclone is an example of this.
“Having Farmlands onboard will go a long way towards helping farmers and growers to keep investing in themselves and their family, their team, communities and businesses,” Gerard says.
