Commencing on March 30th 2016 and running through until May 1st 2016, the Sons of a Bitch & Mel Parsons Woolshed Tour was successfully staged across 22 evenings to audiences throughout the South Island. The idea of the events was to be a social gathering and a night out for the rural community alongside an evening of world-class entertainment.
The entertainment consisted of a double bill show, kicking off with a set of county/folk songs with award-winning songwriter & musician Mel Parsons, followed by a theatre/comedy show featuring the incomparable talents of Amelia Dunbar & Emma Newborn, performing their new show ‘Sons of a Bitch’. Both shows have a rural bent and great farm humour, with particular appeal to rural audiences. The community get-together nature of the events ended up making each night a social highlight on the calendars of rural South Islanders, with each night including a fundraising BBQ for the local school, playgroup, or community group.
